Frequently Asked Questions

When should I use Potjie Care & Protect?

It is intended for storage protection after the potjie has been cleaned and dried, helping reduce rust risk between cooking sessions.

Does Potjie Care replace proper drying of cast iron?

No. The potjie should still be dried thoroughly; the spray is an additional protective maintenance step rather than a substitute for correct drying.

Can I spray it onto food?

No. It is a cookware-care product and should not be used as a cooking ingredient or sprayed onto food.

Why does cast iron rust in storage?

Moisture left on unprotected iron can cause surface rust, which is why thorough drying and a protective layer are important before storage.

Is the 400ml spray only for new potjie pots?

No. It is intended as ongoing storage maintenance for potjie cookware, not only for first use.
