How long does delivery take from Something From Home?
Planning a braai, restocking the pantry or sending someone a taste of home? Here’s a practical guide to when your order should arrive.
We send orders from our Auckland warehouse throughout New Zealand and to Australia. To give you useful guidance, we reviewed more than 16,500 completed deliveries collected between January and September 2026.
Shipping costs and collection
Your shipping charge is calculated at checkout for your address and order. For an indication before checkout, see our shipping cost estimate guide. Estimates are a guide; the final charge is shown before you pay.

First comes packing, then delivery
Your order’s journey has two parts:
- Preparing your order: usually allow 1–2 days for us to pick and pack it.
- Courier transit: the time between the courier collecting your parcel and delivering it.
The delivery figures below measure courier pickup to delivery. They do not include preparation time.
Delivery within New Zealand
Across more than 15,000 completed New Zealand shipments, the average delivery time was 1.8 calendar days after courier collection. Nine out of ten arrived within four calendar days.
Location makes a difference:
| Destination recorded in our shipping history | Average calendar days after collection |
|---|---|
| Auckland | 1.4 |
| Hamilton and Waikato | 1.5 |
| Wellington and the Hutt Valley | 1.5 |
| Christchurch and Canterbury | 3.5 |
| Dunedin and Otago | 3.3 |
| Addresses marked rural, nationwide | 2.7 |
Calendar days include weekends. These are historical averages, so some parcels arrive sooner and others take longer.
For planning purposes, allow more time for South Island, rural and remote deliveries, especially around public holidays and busy periods.
Delivery to Australia
Your favourites travel from Auckland to Australia before continuing through the Australian delivery network.
Across 1,413 completed Australian shipments, delivery averaged 6.5 calendar days after collection. Nine out of ten arrived within 11 calendar days.
Our records showed averages of approximately:
- Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland: around six calendar days.
- Western Australia, South Australia and Tasmania: around eight calendar days.
Your address and selected courier service affect the timing. Customs or biosecurity checks can also extend the journey.
If you’re ordering for a birthday, holiday or special occasion, leave extra time beyond these historical averages.
What does my tracking update mean?
We email you a tracking link when your shipment is booked.
“Label created” or “booking received” means the courier booking exists. Your parcel may still be awaiting collection.
“Collected” or “in transit” confirms the courier has received it. This is when the delivery periods above begin.
If your order travels in several boxes, they may arrive separately. Check each tracking number where more than one is provided.
You can find more help in our parcel tracking guide.
Need help with a delivery?
If your parcel is taking longer than expected, check the latest tracking update first. Then email ask@somethingfromhome.co.nz with your order number so we can help investigate.
Shipping charges and available services appear at checkout after you enter your delivery address.
These figures describe past deliveries and are a guide, rather than a guaranteed arrival date.
